Covid-19 Policy and Procedures

It is of great importance that each of us involved in this retreat do all that we can to protect the health of everyone attending, as well as the health of the residents of Yokoji Zen Mountain Center, with whom we will share the grounds and meals during our stay there.

We also understand that Covid-19 is an evolving phenomenon and as such, all policies outlined are subject to updates, revisions and changes at any time.  Once registered, Sarah will contact participants with information about any change to the policy below.

Please read it in detail before registering.  Your honesty and cooperation are deeply appreciated.

  • We will follow county, state, and federal (CDC) Covid-19 guidelines that are currently in place, along with additional safety protocols in an attempt to stack mitigation strategies, including limiting capacity for this retreat.

  • We will require the following conditions be met in order for someone to attend the retreat:

1. Symptom Free

2. Negative COVID-19 Test

  • Participants must make arrangement to test themselves the morning/ early afternoon of the first retreat day (June 1, 2023) before departing locally for the retreat.

  • Take a photo of negative test results.

  • You will be asked to show the photo of your negative results upon arrival & check in. Individuals will not be admitted to the retreat if the test result is positive for COVID, or without proof of a negative test result from June 1, 2023.

  • You may still be eligible to request free at home antigen tests to be delivered to your home here.

  • Leading up to Retreat:

    • We highly recommend that you take extra care in the 10 days leading up to the retreat to minimize risk of exposure to Covid, Flu and other communicable diseases as much as is possible.

    • Should a participant test positive for Covid-19 anytime May 20 - June 1, 2023:

      • they may only attend the retreat once they have isolated for a minimum of 5 days (counting the day of the positive test as day 0) AND be without a fever and symptom free.

      • Or, after 10 days (counting the day of the positive test as day 0), folks may join the retreat, so long as they are fever-free and feel well enough to attend.

      • We ask anyone who has recently had Covid-19 please mask at all times while indoors within the first 14 days of testing positive as a conservative measure of protection for others.

    • If in the 10 days prior to the retreat (beginning on May 25, 2023) anyone in your household test positive for Covid-19, or if you have otherwise been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19, you are required to notify Sarah promptly and test for three days leading up to retreat (May 30, 31 & June 1).  You will be required to send photos of the negative tests to Sarah in order to attend.

  • Masks: At the time of this writing, participants are not required to wear masks/ respirators, however participants are supported in choosing to do so at any time. Please bring along some high quality masks; Sarah will also supply additional N95s on retreat for anyone who may want one.

  • Ventilation: we will keep common spaces as well ventilated as possible.  Please be advised that this means open windows! Mountain weather is wildly unpredictable; please bring layers and options!

  • Dining:

    • The dining area is a three-walled structure with plenty of open air ventilation as well as lots of outdoor seating; please keep in mind unpredictable mountain weather.

  • Symptom Check: We trust that all practitioners, staff, and teachers will monitor their symptoms daily with integrity and communicate to Sarah (or a designated support person) the development of any symptoms that might indicate a Covid-19 infection. Thermometers & additional rapid tests will be available for use should you feel concerned at any point about your status, or feel free to bring your own.

  • Sick Policy: If a retreat participant becomes sick, they will be asked to remain in their room / to isolate from others, and if serious, return home. If a person tests positive for COVID-19, they must leave the retreat.

  • Covid-19 Specific Cancellations:

    • In the event of a wave of severity of Covid-19, Sarah and/or Yokoji Zen Mountain Center will postpone this retreat and reschedule it for a later time. In this case, all payments will be fully refunded.

    • If a participant cannot attend because of a positive Covid test within the 10 days leading up to the retreat, their payment will be fully refunded. Documentation of the positive test with the date will be required in order to process the refund.
