The Clarity Collective

a small group gathering where text study, embodiment, meditation & speaking and listening practices come together;

a place where we dig deep into how this practice is muted or expressed in our actual life,

bravely in the presence of the sangha (a practice community).

practitioners are encouraged to think critically about this practice, the conditions they

emerge from and themselves.

Next Practice Period Coming

EARLY 2024

4 COMPONENTS:

WHAT: The Clarity Collective is small sangha (community) of up to 6 folks who are interested in committing to weekly gatherings in order to get very real about how practice informs and inspires their actual life.

  • We use one book as our text-base, grounding our process in that framework; you'll read this on your own.

  • We meet weekly on zoom; we begin with a check in and a short formal practice-- some combination of meditation, breath & simple movement.

  • Then Sarah will offer a short talk and some prompts-- questions, grounded in the text, for us to ponder together.

  • Then we engage in the heart of The Clarity Collection: formal speaking and listening practices.

    • Sarah will give this process clear structure and boundaries.

    • Someone will speak for a specific allotted amount of time while others only listen.

    • When speaking, the practice is essentially to speak honestly from your heart, about your life.

    • When listening, the practice is essentially to listen openly with your whole body and to engage in actively dropping judgment, comparisons and distractions in order to remain receptive.

    • Then we speak more freely as a group.

  • WHAT ITS NOT: therapy, in the traditional western sense.  It is, however, full of the potential for insight and healing via the dharma, via the power of these wisdom practices, via respectful communal spaces and rituals, and via the powerful experience that is being fully seen and heard and through the learning experience that is deep listening.

WHEN:

  • 2024 Dates TBA.

  • Typicall8-10 sessions live on zoom

    • 1 in person social gathering optional for local san diego participants.

WHO: Anyone with an earnest interest in these practices and in the support of a kind, honest community are welcome.  You are encouraged to bring your unique life to this intimate way of practicing with others.

  • There are so many ways one can engage in this Collective.  What are you curious about?  Bring that to this sangha.  Are you a yoga or meditation teacher who needs support & inspiration?  Are you a householder with a partner or children or pets or aging parents who wonders how this practice might guide their relational life?  Do you feel drawn to contemplate the challenges of the 2020s sociopolitical landscape through the lens of wisdom traditions?  Do you need the guidance of these practices in tending to your body, heart & mind?  All of these and more are valuable reasons to participate.

WHERE: Via Zoom.

  • There will also be an opportunity to meet up for an outdoor gathering with other former Clarity Collective participants, in the San Diego area.  Details TBA.
